JASON BERUBE
Jason Berube has been studying and lecturing on the culture and calendar of the Maya for 20 years. In 1995 he attended the Universidad de Nahuatl, in Cuernavaca, MX. He later earned his Master's Degree in Cultural Mythology and World Symbolism from Prescott College in AZ. He has traveled extensively throughout Mexico, Guatemala and Belize, meeting indigenous peoples and visiting sacred sites. In 1999 he supported the Azteca Sun Dancers at Teotihuacan, MX and participated in a New Fire ceremony in Tikal, Guatemala in 2009. In Feb, 2010 he traveled to Lake Atitlan, Guatemala, to perform his play adaptation of the Popul Vuh, the Maya's book of the Dawn of Life. This show also traveled to Punta Gorda, Belize, where it was performed for over 200 Maya children. He based all the props for the show on ancient Maya art from ceramics and codieces. Most recently, Jason was hired as a consultant for the long-awaited "Fiery Pool" Maya exhibit at the esteemed Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA. |
